LamTech-ReportSight
Overview
ReportSight is an intelligent reporting application developed for the Hawaii Annual Code Challenge (HACC) to assist Hawaii Marine Animal Response (HMAR). The platform enables HMAR workers to manage report forms with precise location data and comprehensive information.
Built with Meteor, React, and Bootstrap, ReportSight features a user-friendly interface that allows reporters to submit marine animal sighting forms efficiently. The application leverages AI-enhanced location services and data processing to improve reporting accuracy and response times.
What I Learned
This project taught me how to develop solutions based on specific stakeholder requirements. HMAR provided a detailed list of desired functionalities, requiring our team to strategically divide work and implement all features effectively.
I gained valuable experience in teamwork and time management, learning to integrate different components seamlessly. Additionally, I mastered working with Google Maps API and CSV file processing—technologies that were completely new to me at the time.
My Contributions
I focused on frontend development and Google API integration:
- Developed the interactive map interface for the admin dashboard with marker-based form display
- Implemented Google Geocoding API integration for automatic location detection
- Created responsive UI components using Bootstrap for enhanced user experience
- Built form submission system with location validation and data processing
